I want to start this by saying: I was not someone who ever saw themselves in direct sales.
When I first became a Thermomix® consultant back in 2017, I did it because I genuinely loved my Thermomix® and thought, “Hey, if I’m going to keep telling everyone about it anyway, I may as well get paid for it.”
That logic still holds up. But there’s a lot more to it than that – and if you’re considering becoming a Thermomix® consultant in Australia, I want to give you the honest version. Not the recruiting pitch. Just the real talk from someone who’s been doing this for years.
First, Who Am I to Talk About This?
I’m Jade, a Gold Coast mum of two, and the face behind Hello Thermo. I’ve been a Thermomix® consultant since 2017, took a break in 2022, and came back in March 2025 when the TM7 launched. I’ve sold well over 100 Thermomixes, and I run an active community of Aussie Thermomix® lovers through the Hello Thermo Facebook group and Instagram (@hellothermo_aus).
I’m not here to recruit you. I’m here to give you enough honest information to make your own decision.
What Does a Thermomix® Consultant Actually Do?
Your main job as a Thermomix® consultant is to introduce people to the Thermomix®, usually through in-home cooking demonstrations, and increasingly through online demos too.
A typical demo involves:
- Visiting a host’s home (or hosting your own – or doing it online)
- Cooking 3 recipes in the Thermomix® while participate, watch and taste
- Answering questions and sharing your genuine experience
- Taking orders from anyone who wants to purchase
You also support your customers after purchase, helping them get started, answering questions, and connecting them to community resources. This is the part I personally love most.
How Much Can You Earn as a Thermomix® Consultant?
This is the question everyone wants answered, and I’ll be straight with you: it depends entirely on how much effort you put in.
Consultants earn commission on each sale. The more demos you run, the more you can earn. Some consultants do this as a full-time career. Others (like me, for a big chunk of my time) do it as a flexible side income that fits around family life.
What I can tell you from my own experience:
- A single demo can result in multiple sales
- When the Thermomix® sells itself (which it genuinely does), your job is mostly just showing up and being yourself
- The income is variable – some months are quieter than others
- The TM7 launch in early 2025 was one of the busiest periods I’ve had – new models drive huge interest
For specific earnings information, I’d recommend reaching out directly – every situation is different and I’d rather give you a real conversation than a number that might not apply to you. Feel free to email me at hello@hellothermo.com.au
What I Love About Being a Thermomix® Consultant
The flexibility is real
I set my own schedule. When my kids were younger, I’d book demos around school hours and naptimes. Now I have more flexibility to take on more. You genuinely work when it suits you – there’s no minimum hours requirement. You do need to sell at least 1 Thermomix every 3 months to stay active as a consultant.
You’re selling something you actually believe in
This is the big one for me. I’m not flogging a product I’m lukewarm about. I use my Thermomix® every single day. When someone at a demo asks “do you really love it?” the answer is genuinely yes, and I think people can tell.
That authenticity makes a massive difference. You’re not convincing people of something. You’re sharing something that’s made your life easier.
The community is amazing
One of the unexpected bonuses of becoming a consultant is the community. I’ve met heaps of brilliant women through this work – other consultants, customers who’ve become friends, people in the Hello Thermo Facebook group who share recipes and tag me in their wins. It’s genuinely heartwarming.
The product pretty much sells itself
When you cook a risotto in under 20 minutes, hands-free, and watch someone’s jaw drop – the sale often happens naturally. You’re not doing a hard sell. You’re just showing people what it can do.
What’s Challenging About Being a Thermomix® Consultant
I’d be doing you a disservice if I only talked about the good stuff. Here’s what I think you should know:
It’s not passive income
You need to actively book demos, follow up, and put yourself out there. If you’re naturally shy or hate reaching out to people, that’s something to consider. (Though many consultants say it actually helped them become more confident, so there’s that.)
Income is commission-based and variable
There’s no salary floor. Busy months can be great. Quiet months, school holidays, Christmas – can be slower. Financial planning matters if you’re relying on this as a primary income. What you put into it is what you get out of it.
It takes time to build momentum
Most consultants find the first few months the hardest – you’re still building your network and reputation. Stick with it through the early phase and it does get easier.
The price is a genuine objection
At $2649, the Thermomix® is a significant purchase. You’ll encounter people who are interested but hesitant about the price. Being honest about the value proposition (and the payment plan options) helps – but it’s still something you navigate regularly.
Is Being a Thermomix® Consultant Right for You?
In my experience, it tends to suit people who:
- Genuinely love their Thermomix® and talk about it constantly anyway
- Want flexible work that fits around kids, other jobs, or lifestyle
- Are comfortable (or willing to get comfortable) with chatting to people and sharing their experience
- Want to build something at their own pace rather than hitting a corporate target
- Value community and connection as part of their work
It’s probably not the best fit if you’re looking for guaranteed income right away, hate the idea of sales, or aren’t actually a Thermomix® user and believer yourself.
Why I Came Back in 2025
When I took a break from consulting, I honestly didn’t plan to come back as my life was full. But when Thermomix® launched the TM7 in March 2025, I couldn’t help myself. The new features genuinely excited me, and the timing felt right with my family.
The response has been incredible. There’s heaps of interest in the TM7, and being part of that energy again has reminded me why I started in the first place. I absolutely love meeting new people and showing them how a Thermomix can benefit their family.
